May Arts Handmade Christmas Gifts Hop

It's time for another May Arts Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from Christina's blog.

The Ribbonistas are featuring handmade Christmas gifts.  I love gifts that can serve dual purposes and that are useful after Christmas as well.

We're giving gift cards and cash to family members this year so I was on the lookout for a creative way to make the card/cash gifts a bit more special.  I found this pattern by Heather at the Sewing Loft and knew it was perfect for using my scraps of beautiful May Arts ribbons.

These little wallets are super quick to make and can be re-used to hold make-up, tissues or as a cash wallet.

I think little boys would love the denim one..they'll never know you used ribbon to make it and I think a Matchbox car would fit in there too.  :-)  The denim came from a pair of my DH's old jeans and the lining is made from scraps of gorgeous May Arts Organic Cotton ribbon sewn together to form a fabric piece.  How is that for recycling?

I think these would be welcomed by everyone from teachers to teens and everyone in between.

Quick, easy, pretty and fun!

Yes, we have Christmas presents!  3 full rolls of ribbon...your choice!

Supplies:
May Arts Ribbons - Solid Wrinkled Ribbon -  EA14, EA09, Ivory Crochet - NP09, Cotton Stripes - 385-15-34
Fabric -  Valentine wallet -Moda Fabrics Layer Cake; Old jeans, misc. from stash

May Arts/Scrapbook Adhesives Blog Hop - Easy Gift Boxes

It's the final day of the May Arts/Scrapbook Adhesives Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from Christina Colon's blog.  I have the full list at the end of this post in case you missed someone this week.

I love pretty packages!  Maybe that's why I love May Arts Ribbon so much!  Tying even the humblest gift in a beautiful ribbon makes it extra special.

I used Scrapbook Adhesives Permanent E-Z Runner to assemble these pretty little boxes made from a single sheet of cardstock each.  Some gorgeous May Arts sparkly ribbons were all that was necessary to make these little boxes festive.   (just click the photo to see a close up)

I used plain cardstock to assemble this box then made it sparkle with some gorgeous Holiday Glitzy Glitter paper by DCWV.   I just adore that May Arts Silver Metallic Ribbon!  It's so soft and makes awesome bows.

You can find the template for the boxes here.  No cutting machines required!  :-)  Just print and cut.  Easy, peasy and May Arts ribbon beautiful!

Don't forget to leave lots of comment love at all the blogs...The Ribbon Lady is offering two full rolls of your choice and Scrapbook Adhesives is adding an assortment of awesome adhesives!

May Arts Christmas Card Blog Hop - Gift Card Holder Tutorial

Christmas is almost upon us and the May Arts Ribbonistas have been busy little elves.  We've got some fun and creative Christmas card ideas for you.

I'm first up on the list!  Gift cards make gift giving easy but not always attractive or very personal so I love to create gift card holders that say, "you're special"!

I've created a gift card holder that can fit in a regular A2 envelope for easy gifting.

These only take minutes to create and there's plenty of room inside for a personal note or message.

Here are the details in case you'd like to make your own.

Cut cardstock - 9 1/4" x 5 1/2"   (if desired, cut designer paper the same size to cover the entire exterior.)
Score at 3 1/4". & 7 1/4"
Crease sharply.  The 2" end will be the pocket (7 1/4" score)
Seal the edges with Scrapbook Adhesives Crafty Power Tape
Embellish as desired!

That's it!  I used Scrapbook Adhesive Crafty Power Tape to seal the ends of my pocket. and to attach the May Arts 5/8"  Eyelet Ribbon to the edge of the card between the cardstock and the designer paper.  I added another strip of Crafty Power Tape to the outside edge of the card and then just hand ruffled that sweet May Arts 1/2" Crochet Cotton Ribbon to the front edge of the card.

Now you know the Ribbon Lady loves to give presents so leave a comment at EACH blog for a chance to win 3 Full Spools of Ribbon...your choice from May Arts Christmas category!  Now that's some serious Ho,Ho,Ho!

Your next stop will be Ribbonista Courtney Lee.  The full list follows:

Tying the Knot Blog Hop & Giveaway

It's official!  Our very own  Ribbon Lady is tying the knot and we are so very happy for her and her guy, Joe.

The Ribbon Lady (aka Bethney) is a very special woman. Not only is she beautiful and talented, her heart is as big as the beach she loves so much.  It's an honor and a privilege to be able to share in her happiness.

Each Ribbonista has created a card for Bethney and Joe to wish them the very best.

I decided to keep with the beach idea and go super simple and serene.  I created my card using Kraft cardstock and my computer because I wanted to personalize it just for them.   The outside is simple...

The fun is on the inside...I custom printed the sentiment then added May Arts 1/8" Burlap Cord tied so that when the card is fully opened, the two cords pull into one single knot.  I didn't take it all the way here, just in case it pulled too tight!

Two hearts, one love.

CONGRATULATIONS BETHNEY AND JOE!    "A wedding is a day, a marriage is a lifetime."  Wishing you a marriage full of love, laughter and sweet surprises.

Some of our terrific Partners in Craft have graciously contributed awesome goodies so you can get in on the celebration as well.

How is that for a celebration?!!

In addition, I'm giving away a Xyron 510 Creative Station (!) and Jessica Kephart is throwing in the Holiday Edition of Made in Paper Magazine!

Here's the hop list.  We would love for you to leave a message for Bethney and Joe on the May Arts Facebook Page

Clean & Simple Monday - CAS All Star Challenge Frosty and Festive

I know...don't faint.  I actually made a card and it felt so good!

The SplitCoastStampers Clean & Simple Design Team Alumni are all joining together to bring you an All Star Holiday Season  of card inspiration.  They've graciously allowed me to participate in this week's challenge which is an inspiration challenge.

This week is a Pinterest Inspiration Challenge - Frosty & Festive (CAS246).  We were given 3 photos and could choose one or all 3.  I chose this one.  I just love the simple elegance of this wreath.

Here's my take on the photo.  I wanted to include the pretty white flowers but finding a background paper the white ink would show up on proved a challenge in itself.  I decided to go totally non-traditional and this was the result:

I think I like it.  Come and play along with us!

Cardstock - Papertrey Ink; Bazzill Metallic Lines; Stampin'Up
Stamps - Papertrey Ink Wreath for all Seasons, Holiday Button Bits

Happy Birthday Karen!

We're having a birthday party and you're invited!  Today is the uber talented, Karen Baker's birthday and a few of us have decided to give her an online card party to celebrate.  .

We're using the sketch from Artful Delight ASC#37 and lots of burlap because it's one of Karen's favorite ribbons.

Happy Birthday, Karen!!

Every party needs favors so the Ribbon Lady is giving away 2 rolls of ribbon to one lucky blog hopper AND two more rolls if you go to Karen's blog to wish her a Happy Birthday!

May Arts Halloween Blog Hop

Welcome to the May Arts Halloween Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from the talented Candy Rosenberg's blog.   I've had a ball creating this wreath.  Hope you enjoy it.

I started with a plain grapevine wreath that I picked up for $3 at my local craft store.  I added a few fun embellishments like this dapper sparkly crow.  Then the fun began with all that wonderful May Arts Ribbon!

I ended up turning him around so his pretty sparkly chest was more prominent.  You can click on any photo for a closer look at these amazing ribbons!

I had some wired picks in my stash of "stuff" so I simply wired 10" pieces of ribbon like this:

and poked them securely into the wreath, then added some sparkly orange pumpkins.

Here's the Hop List for the week.  Prepare to be beautifully spooked!  Next up today is the uber cool Christina Colon.
