Summer Card Camp

I just hate it when I sign up for something and then can't fully participate.  Such has been the case with Summer Card Camp.  This is the last week and I finally just told myself that I WILL participate this week. 

Today's assignment is a color challenge and I couldn't resist because these are the colors I think of when I think of where we live.
                                
I put off my shower to head into the studio to try and fnd something to match...Not quite but almost.  The flower by Rubbernecker Stamps, actually looks much better IRL but it's overcast here today...seems there's a tropical storm playing around in the Atlantic today so the light is awful.  (go away!)

 I clear heat embossed  the image.  I tried the fingerinking technique on the flower that Jennifer McGuire introduced last week...yes, I did pay attention.   It reminds me of fingerpainting...so fun.  I used Copics to color the leaves as they were a bit narrower for fingerinking.

The CAS Challenge  CAS127 on SCS wasn't posted yet when I took a sneak peek but from what I could gather in the gallery,  it's a  tropical inspiration photo with pink and green as the colors..or at least I hope so!

I chose the hot pink of PTI's Hybiscus Burst and paired it with Spring Moss.

Just a little housekeeping....

I spent this evening trying to organize the mess I created in my studio this week.  I'm thinking of selling the small desk and replacing it with a cabinet with shelves.  It's a really nice Ethan Allen computer desk but no room for it anywhere else in the house.  Decisions, decisions....

I'm also working on a fun project for May Arts that I can't show you just yet.  Think Yogi Bear! ;-)

We begin remodeling the master bathroom (circa 1988) the end of Sept.  Tomorrow begins the quest for tile, countertops, bathtub, hardware.  Help!

Foodie Friday friends like you take my breath away

Gosh...this week has just flown by!  Perhaps because we've been trying to play catch up from our trip or maybe life is just like that sometimes. 

I fell in love this week...with this coat dress from Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger:

Is this not divine?  Love that flirty collar and hemline.  And did you see that soft pink background?  sigh....

I used this sketch from Card Positioning Systems 226

I was in a frilly girl mood after swooning over that coat dress so this sketch took on a life of it's own.

I didn't have any black roses so I colored them with my Copic marker.  That awesome sentiment is from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Now for a sweet treat!  My DH and I have been on a bit of a "I gained 4 lbs. on vacation and I can't eat a thing diet".  ;-)  Poor thing was craving something sweet so I tried this recipe from King Arthur flour.  Can you say to die for?  I mean, chocolate, peanut butter AND Reeses' PB cups...what's not to love?

Yay!  I put the recipe on a Google Doc so all you have to do is go to the Recipes link at the top of the page and click the link under the photo.

The Teapot Tuesday challenge this week on SCS takes us to Canada and Rita, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer.  Rita faces a huge challenge but is facing it with peacefulness and humor.  She loves the outdoors. 

We are to bring Rita daisies and birds or bees.  Since I don't have any decent birds, I brought my daisies as rub ons and some bees to wish Rita a happy hello.

Come, little doggie!

I've got a super simple tutorial for you over at the May Arts Blog to make this adorable dog collar and leash.  I promise you'll never be able to pay those big $$  at the pet store again once you see how quickly and easily these come together.  There's a link for the hardware as well.

Isn't my little model adorable...of course, he wouldn't look at the camera.  I woke him from a nap and he was NOT happy.

A little bit of paradise

It's reality check time...we've just spent a dreamy 3 days and 4 nights in Key West/Sunset Key on a trip my DH earned through his company.   Every detail was so beautifully planned!  We were all flown in the company jet.  Then, we had nothing to do but relax, have fun and eat at fabulous restaurants.  Lovely surprise gifts were placed in our cottage daily.  It was an amazing experience and an absolute blessing! 

We used a couple of different cameras plus the company hired professional photographers to take photos of the activities.  I'll share a few more as I get through all of them but here are a few from our first day.

Our cottage - Beachcomber

This is me right after we arrived.  I'm on the front of the wrap around porch where we had our morning coffee and pastries that were delivered fresh daily to our cottage.

We had an amazing sunset dinner cruise on this yacht.  Like I said a dream vacation!

The owner also graciously took the group out for snorkeling, and jet skiing from the yacht. 

Off to bed then back to the real world of laundry, cooking and work tomorrow.  

CAS - America the Beautiful

Here's the last card I was able to finish for the CAS holiday challenges.  There are still some great challenges I plan on going back to later.

This one was to be inspired by the song "America the Beautiful".  Crafty Secrets had just sent me a link to a free download of the music sheet so I decided to just go literal.

I printed the music on ivory cardstock then swiped over it with PTI Chai ink.  The sentiment is from PTI est. 1776 set.  The star is a gold button that I colored with a brown Copic marker to dull it down.

CAS - Butterfly Sparkles

Here's another card for the CAS holiday challenges on SCS.  We are to use things that sparkle!  I decided to use my favorite summer DP from DCWV...Citrus Stack.  I know you must be tired of me talking about it but I truly LOVE it.

This one was super quick to put together...love when that happens.

CAS Monochromatic Floral

Another card for the CAS holiday challenges on SCS.  This one is to use shades of red, blue or white with white.

Simple beauty.  I left the sentiment off for two reasons...I thought this might be perfect for any occasion and second...there was no room!

I stamped the image with Versamark, then heat embossed with white detail embossing powder before coloring with Copics.

CAS Thank you

I made this card as a thank you for our friend who graciously hosted an Independence Day party at her home.

It also qualifies for the CAS holiday challenges on SCS this week.  There's still time to get in on the fun!  This one qualifies for 3 challenges!  Stars, sparkles and flag fun.

I paper pieced the picnic basket and used the stars from the punched border to accent the blank spaces.  Not as CAS as I ususally like but still lots of white space...you think?

Teapot Tuesday MMTPT153 - Golf Snoopy Style

It's time for another Teapot Tuesday! This week our cards are going to a young dad named Natha aka Manny,  who has just been diagnosed with lukemia.  You can read his story here on the Teapot Tuesday forum at SCS.

Our mission this week was to design cards with a sporting theme but especially golf.  I got a surprise package of images from my good friend, Sue, of Sue's Stamping Stuff, and this little golfing Snoopy was in there!  Just in time for the challenge!  Thanks, girlfriend!!

I kept this simple since it was going to a guy.  Hope this brings Manny a smile.

I apologize in advance for the funky photos this week.  The light here has been terrible...lots of gray days which is unusual.

Clean and Simple Monday - Kindness

Happy Independance Day to my fellow patriots in the US and a belated Happy Canada Day to our neighbors to the North!!!

We celebrate here in the US with picnics, fireworks and fun but this year, our family and friends are pausing first to remember why we celebrate and to remember that the freedoms we enjoy come with a price. We re vowing to preserve those freedoms for our children and grandchildren. God Bless America!'

Now for some CAS fun...DH is working today so between loads of laundry, I'm playing in the CAS Holiday Card Marathon over at SplitCoastStampers! Yep..22 challenges, each with a different theme...I'm not guaranteeing I'll be able to do them all but it's going to be fun! Guess what?! Foodie Friday - Peaches and Wildflowers

Happy Friday...Sorry I've been awol for a few days.  I've been creating for a special July 4th event coming up on the SplitcoastStampers CAS Challenges.  While we're waiting for the fireworks to begin, there will be lots of fun EVERY hour in the CAS forum.  You won't want to miss it!!

I've also been baking with a few of the peaches that we had left from our trip.  Last year, I made an awesome cake (well, ok...I made two of them last year.  shhhh)   This year, I've only made one so far and we did share it, but it's soooo good. 

You can find my recipe on this post.    Don't be afraid of this homemade white cake...it's so good and so easy.  You'll never go back to BC or DH...I promise.

I have a simple one layer card to share I made using Rubbernecker Stamps.  I used the Dandelion Border and Dandelion Stem sets as well as the sentiment from the Garden Phrase set.

Here I am...late again!  I've been hard at work on two blog hop projects for May Arts Ribbon and I promise you'll want to participate.  We've partnered with a company you know and love so keep watching for it as there will be lots of prizes!

Up first is my very first Rubbernecker Stamps Design Team card for you.  Cinderella has nothing on Alice...she's got her own shiny red shoes and an attitude to match!  This card is for the CAS Color Challenge on SCS this week to use Red/Black & White...and check it out...it's one layer!  She's sporting patent leather shoes, purse and belt as well as shiny buttons, thanks to some Crystal Effects.  Oh for the days my waist was that small!
