WOYWW165 & Make it Monday & BC Winner

It's Wednesday and that means it's time once again to hop around the world to snoop at workdesks on Julia's Stamping Ground (WOYWW165)I've sufficiently recovered from the pineapple escapade from last week!  ;-)

I thought you might be getting bored with my desk so I thought I'd share the new decal I put on the laundry room wall.  Now, mind you I do my laundry and ironing (I HATE ironing but I iron everything!) within 2 days but I did think this was fun.  It's on a wall above the window in the laundry room.

I found it on Etsy at a shop called Walls that Talk.  My only complaint is that it took ALOT of rubbing to get the letters to stick so it took over an hour to get this up. Otherwise, I love it and will probably buy more from this shop as she has some great sayings.

I also grabbed a few minutes..ok, more like an hour to make a card for Papertrey's Make it Monday #76 challenge. Yes, I know it's not Monday, but I didn't have any creative time the past two days.  This week's challenge is called "Double Time Bleach Stamping".  The idea is to bleach stamp then use ink over the bleach.  I figured most people would do flowers so I chose something different.  I had a hard time getting the bleach to take on some of the PTI paper colors for some reason but it liked the Melon Berry.

I stamped small solid circles with ink on the solid bleached circles.

Supplies:
Paper - Neenah Ivory; PTI Melon Berry
Ink- Versamagic Pink Grapefruit, Versafine Black
Stamps - PTI Polka Dot Basics, Signature Sentiments II
Other - bleach; PTI Fabulous Frames dies; ribbon

Finally, I have the winner of July's Blog Candy.

Foodie Friday - Tabouleh!

My DH requested one of his favorite dinners this week.  You should understand that my guy came from a meat and potatoes family so when I say this is one of his favorites, it's a big deal because it's totally vegetarian!

He loves Tabouleh or Cracked Wheat Salad served with Hummus, raw vegetables and pita bread.  I grew up on it so it's one of my all time favorites as well.  It's also super refreshing on hot summer days as well as loaded with healthy fiber and you can prepare the entire dinner early in the day in under 30 minutes after you soak the cracked wheat.

Enjoy!!

July 2012 Papertrey Blog Hop

I'm in under the wire but so wanted to play with the beautiful colors in this month's July Papertrey Blog Hop.
We are to pair floral images with the beautiful colors.  I didn't have any inks other than Berry and Sorbet so I let my DP do the floral for me.

The rose silk is closer to Berry Sorbet IRL.

Supplies:
Stamps - Papertrey Signature Greetings II
Paper - PTI Simply Chartreuse; Graphic 45 Little Darlings
Ink - Versafine black
Other - PTI Fabulous Frames die, Filigree Border die; May Arts Rose Silk & Crochet Lace (new!); sewing machine; paper roses

WOYWW164 - Who Dunnit?

It's Wednesday...again!!  If anyone has a way to slow time down...(like to about where it was when we were 10 and it took FOREVER for any big event to arrive), I wish they'd put it in a bottle and sell it.  I'd buy the lot!

Wednesday means it's time for WOYWW164 over at Julia's Stamping Ground across the big pond.  Here's a peek at the worktable top this week...a tooth fairy box almost to completion for a customer and a mess all around that I've managed to get straightened up now.  Does anyone have a foolproof  (that would be me!) way to store unmounted rubber?  I've tried everything.  My notebook panels work until the notebook gets too thick and sometimes the stamps lose their grip and fall off.

I've been terribly amiss and keep forgetting to post these awesome ATC's (my very first) that were a RAK from Eliza of QueenartoypiaThey're just so awesomely creative!  I keep them on my desk where I see them for inspiration...maybe one of these days, I'll give it a try.

This card was a surprise RAK from Tickle a Teapotter Tuesday (SplitcoastStampers)  teapot member, scrappinmama72inpa aka EmilyThe last Tuesday of each month, the Teapotters are sent a secret member by the moderator to send that week's challenge card to.

Isn't this just too sweet?
Emily has added so many details to create a fun card that just makes me smile.

Now for my "Who Dunnit.(hee,hee...not you, Julia!)  I've been growing and nurturing some pineapple plants for 3 years...3 years!  It takes that long for the plants to mature enough to produce fruit...one single beautiful, sweet pineapple.  I've been watching and waiting for the first one to ripen. Checking each day for that blush of yellow that says it's time to pick.  Here's what I found today:

I am so stinkin' MAD!!  Some critter, picked the pineapple...oh yes, took it right off the plant...tore into it and ate AROUND the core!   Unbelieveable!!!  I have one more out there which I plan to watch like a hawk.

Our grandson suggested putting a camera in the garden...I'm thinking more like barbed wire, electrical wire, the jaws of death.....

Clean & Simple Monday - Can't wait to "sea" you!

The SplitcoastStampers Clean and Simple challenge (CAS180) is a sketch based on Summer DT member Darsie Bruno.  You can see Darsie's sample at the link.

I flipped the main element from left to right and the style from elegant to silly and spritzed the background with Imagine Crafts Bahama Blue Fireworks spray.  It gives a bit of color and shimmer to the cardstock..love this stuff.  It's so much fun to play with.  A bit of May Arts Twine and done!

Supplies:
Stamps - Rubbernecker Stamps "Rufus"  (86-15), Small "Sea" text (391-09)
Paper - Neenah Solar White
Ink - Tsukineko Kaleidacolor Calypso; Versafine black
Other - May Arts Twine;  Imagine Crafts Fireworks Bahama Blue

Foodie Friday - Sloppy Joe!

A Fairy Tale Love Story

"And they lived happily ever after...."

Here's my submission for Stamp it Cards Week Love Card Challenge at Moxie Fab World.

I stamped the background with Stampin Up's Itty Bitty Background and a glue pad then sprinkled on the fairy dust! That gorgeous ribbon is May Arts Champagne silk...love it!

You've still got time to play so:

Here's a photo tip for capturing glitter.  Use only the natural room light and flash...any extra lighting "drowns" out the sparkle.

Supplies:
Stamps - Hampton Arts Fairy Tales; Stampin Up Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Ink - Versafine
Other - May Arts Ribbon; Sparkle n Sprinkle fine glitter; glue pad

WOYWW163 - My new best friend

It's time to peek at all the workdesks around the world via Julia's Stamping GroundI thought I'd give you a wide view of my room this week (while it's mostly clean!)

The center island has drawers that hold my ribbons.  It;s also where I pack and prepare to ship my Etsy store orders.  More about that later!

The big black cabinet was found at Goodwill a few years ago before I had the other pieces.  My DH made
shelves for the inside and I painted it black.

Thought I'd introduce you to my new best friend.

Sorry for the grainy photo it's a mirror shot.  I'm hoping this big boy and physical therapy (starts tomorrow) will keep me from knee replacement surgery.

Hubby is off tomorrow so I probably won't get around to see many desks until  later.  Don't forget about the post here.  wink, wink!

LaCoste Inspired

Welll, rats..I missed the deadline for the Runway Inspired Challenge ric #15, (drat that knee!) but I had this card in my head and it needed to come out.

Here's the challenge photo anyway so you can see if I hit it or not.  :-)

I used a shoe and sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps fun Hat, Shoe and Purses line.  I chose Papertrey's Soft Stone as my base to pick up the grey in the suit and khaki for the shoes.  The shoe design was made with Papertrey's older Faux Ribbon set.  I stamped the shoe, masked the flower, then stamped the stripes and cut it out.  It's popped on the card with foam tape.

I had a bottle of tiny beads that I picked up on clearance a couple of years ago.  Love those clearance buys!  A bit of glue on the flower holds them on nicely.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to check in here for "you know what"!  ;-)

Supplies:
Stamps - Rubbernecker Pump with Flower (38-05); Right Shoe Text (39-08)
Paper - PTI Soft Stone, Khaki
Ink - Amuse Cherry, Blueberry (my new favorite for acrylics..thanks MB!)
Other - foam tape; glue; tiny beads

Clean and Simple Monday - Twine

The SplitcoastStampers CAS Challenge (CAS179) is Twine!  Time to let all that colorful string you've been hoarding out to play.

I've used a sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps and colorful May Arts twine.

I'm also entering this into the Less is More One Layer challenge Week 76 and using 3 of something on your card.  I used a bit more twine but 3 blingy things and 3 felt flowers.

Almost forgot to add this month's candy!  You followers know what to do.  Just remember to comment on this post.  I'll draw at the end of the month.

Supplies:
Stamps - Rubbernecker
Ink - Kalidescope Calypso
Paper - Papertrey Ink
Other - May Arts Twine; dollar store bling pack; foam tape

Thinking of you

It's been a rough few days lately as I've had some unexpected symptoms from a cortisone shot I got on Thursday.  Seems the ortho doc thinks I should have a total knee replacement.  I think NOT so opted for draining the knee, the cyst, and a shot of cortisone followed by PT and a big old ugly brace.  I just wasn't expecting the high bp, vision problems, tingling etc. as I've had cortisone before w/o any issues.

The doc called this the "rusty years"...so much for all that exercise they say is good for you!!

I have a couple of Rubbernecker cards that I haven't had a chance to get posted.  I've had 3 friends diagnosed with breast cancer in the last week.  That's 3 too many.  I'm sending these cards out with prayers for their complete healing.

Supplies:
Card 1
Stamps - Rubbernecker Believe Collage 621-01
Ink - Versamark; Ranger Distress Tattered Rose, Peeled Paint
Paper - Neenah; X-press it
Other – May Arts leaves, Stampin Up border punch; Cuttlebug embossing folder; embossing buddy; clear embossing powder; heat gun; sponges; glue dots

Technique – Emboss Resist

Card 2
Stamps – Wildflowers Floral #1; Best Wishes Set 600

Paper – Neenah cream, Stampin Up
Ink – A Muse Lichen, Grass
Other – Stampin Up embossing folder; May Arts crochet ribbon; Martha Stewart pearls; Glue Arts Ribbon Adhesive

May Arts - Summer Kids Crafts

I"m back to a normal posting schedule, hopefully!  Nothing to do now but wait for the Ribbon Lady's decisions on the final DT picks.  Good luck to everyone who is in the final round!!  Lucky Ribbon Lady is at CHA in Chicago this weekend.  Sure hoping they bring it back down south soon.

Ok...I've got a fun way to keep the kids busy for a little while and a way to help beat the heat too.  Head over the May Arts blog for two fun tutorials on making paper fans.  One for the older kids (and mom!) and one for little ones to help with.  Both use things you already have around the house.

The first one is nice enough to give as a gift, I think!  Perfect for these "dog days of summer" or to file away for Mother's Day and birthday gift ideas.   Be sure to tell the Ribbon Lady what you think.

I'll be back with this month's treat for you followers...I didn't forget!  ;-)  It's been an interesting week, doctors talking about knee replacements and such...I think not!!  We'll go the PT and brace way first, right?

May Arts Design Team Round 2

It's here...the final round of the May Arts Design Team Call!!  I have created a multi-part project for my final submission.  Since it's rather long, you can find a complete supply list and tutorial with pictures here for easy download/printing.

Here we go!  My May Arts Clementine Doll Bed:

I created a doll's bed (or teddy bear bed!) from paint sticks and a clementine (mandarin orange) crate then turned it into a fairy tale with the help of beautiful May Arts Ribbons.  The finished bed is perfect for dolls or teddy bears up to 11 1/2" long.

In the tutorial, you will find links to all the May Arts Ribbons  I used.

First up is the actual bed construction:

Every little doll needs a mattress for comfort,

and a soft pillow for her head,

a rug to play on,

and a blanket to cuddle up in when nights are chilly.

Even the tiny teddy got a May Arts Elastic Ruffled Ribbon Tutu and bow of gorgeous May Arts Double Faced Satin.

May Arts Satin leaves and Crochet Velvet help with sweet dreams.

Look at those (brand New!) Mini Pom Poms on the pillow!  Aren't they just the cutest?  The link will take you to a Sneak Peek of all the colors.

Thanks May Arts Ribbon!  You make creativity.....BEAUTIFUL!
