First of all, our prayers go out to the good people devastated by Hurricane Sandy. It will be many years before their lives will be back to "normal". We have gone through hurricanes and know the devastation they cause emotionally, physically and financially.
If you can donate to one of the organizations who are going in to help out, I hope you will take the time today to do so. We chose Samaritan's Purse (88% goes directly to aid) and Operation Blessing,, ob.org. for our donations. There are a couple of others here. They will need lots of volunteers as well.
Oh, my...it's been a few days since I've posted and I do miss it but business comes before pleasure, dagnabit!
Well, the paint is FINALLY cleaned up. The carpet cleaners, (who I will NEVER use again), initials SS, were here and gone in less than 20 minutes...under 20 minutes to clean the entire bedroom/hallway and a paint spill?!! I couldn't check it until the next day because it was "wet" and we weren't to walk on it for 6-8 hours.
So I wait, go into the room and put my fingers into the carpet and come up with a hand covered in paint. Had to call them out again....they send two new guys, who I will call, Frick and Frack. Frick is armed with a spray bottle an old towel. Frack watches. Frick sprays something on the rug, rubs it and says, "See, there's your paint!" No kidding? Then he proceeds to try to sell me an outdoor mat. Total cost - $104.00
I had to get out my trusty Krud Kutter, and get the rest of the paint out myself. The carpet did need cleaned due to the bathroom renovation but honestly, the first two guys...and why does it take two to clean one room? Those two were more interested in the design of my house than in getting out the paint.
Ok...enough of the rant. here's my bed (I LOVE my bed!) in my newly painted room. I talked hubby into the bedroom set 15 years ago when I found it on clearance and I still adore it.
The walls were a darker brown which looked nice but made the room too dark. Now they're Benjamin Moore Muslin and it's nice a bright. The big window is a sliding door out to the patio and pool area.
I love the metal work on the bed. It's covered by the pillows but it has a heart in the center of the swirls.
I made the lined draperies from some silk I found on sale at Calico Corners a few years ago. They look darker than they are...they're closer to the blues in the pillows. DH actually chose the ruffled and embroidered pillows. He's pretty good, eh?
Be sure to take a jaunt over to Julia's Stamping Ground to see what's on the workdesks this week. I did manage to glue down the pieces of the card that was in progress last week, got a stamp set this week from a brand new company but a blog you may be familiar with, CAS-ual Fridays, and dug out some metal dies but no crafty goodness coming from the desk yet.
I am working on DT projects though so be sure to stay tuned for those and there just might be some blog candy in the works....
Happy Wednesday...be sure to say hi to Julia!

Foodie Friday - Applesauce Cake
It's been awhile since I've had time to do a Foodie Friday. I never seem to remember to grab the camera before everything is gobbled up or given away.
Hubby needed a treat for work and since it's the fall season, I thought a good old fashioned recipe was in order.
This is a simple cake that needs no frosting. It's delicious on its own, dolloped with whipped cream or a sprinkling of powdered sugar. Serve it warm and it's like being wrapped in a blanket of comforting spices. Chock full of applesauce, raisins and nuts, it's pure comfort food! So grab a glass of cold milk and join me.

PS...Thanks for all the good wishes....the carpet cleaners had to come back again today...paint still in rug...sigh

WOYWW177
If you're looking for the Peep Show please scroll down...I promise it's worth it. :-)
It's Wednesday and time for a peep of a different sort on Julia's Stamping Ground (WOYWW177). My workdesk hasn't seen much fun lately. I left everything as it was to take up painting the master bedroom. All was going well until today...something told me NOT to take my trim pail up the ladder but I did...what goes up, must come down and come down it did....all over the rug, the sliding glass door and into the door jamb.
Painting stopped, Stanley Steemer called and carpet had to have an emergency cleaning...Now I have to paint with a C:LEAN carpet underfoot. NO pressure.
Here's the OTHER mess I left on the workdesk.
A Thanksgiving card in progress, some lovely May Arts ribbon, and an assortments of "Stuff" waiting to be put away...after I finish painting. sigh.....
Be sure to pop over to Julia's for a look at other desks around the globe.

CAS - Harvest Time
I'm still here...honest! I'm working on a huge DT project right now that is super time consuming. I did manage a few minutes to make a few cards though....
I couldn't resist the CAS challenge (CAS192) on SCS this week. This week's inspiration is a a theme - Harvest. I pulled out my very favorite Rubbernecker Kittie Kits and got to work.
I sponged the sky and ground then stamped the trees from Kitty Kit #2 Moose. I stamped the truck on XPress It cardstock, masked and stamped the pumpkins, then colored with Copics and cut it out. I stamped another bunch of pumpkins and mounted them with a tiny strip of foam tape over the masked pumpkins. The truck is mounted just off the background with foam tape.
Thanks for stopping by.
Supplies
Stamps - Rubbernecker Kittie Kits #2, #9
Ink - Memento black; Copic markers; Amuse
Paper - PTI Kraft, Smokey Shadow; X Press It
Other - Scor-Pal; foam tape

WOYWW174
It;s Wednesday and that means it's time once again for a visit to Julia's Stamping Ground and WOYWW174.
I cleaned up my workdesk today, then promptly began making a mess once again. There's some lovely flocked paper and few Christmas (good grief) stamps sets out. I really hate doing Christmas until I've had time to enjoy Thanksgiving. Seems the retailiers just jump from Halloween right into Christmas then rush us into Valentine's Day before we've had a chance to take the tree down.
My BOO is actually a CD holder I made for The Cutting Cafe some time ago..I still love it.!!
I think I shall protest this year.
Be sure to visit the other workdesks around the world.
Nothing new and exciting...just rearranged the shelves a bit.

Clean & Simple Teapot Tuesday
I've been awol for a few days...DH took some vacation time so that we could catch up on "honey-do" chores and our youngest son brought his new bride to visit for a couple of days.
Time to get back to the "real" world and a few minutes in the craft studio. I created this card using the SCS Clean and Simple Color Challenge CAS190 (coral, aqua, yellow, white) and the Teapot Tuesday Challenge (MMTPT218).
Our Teapot Tuesday cards are going to Florida today to help brighten the day for Jean. Jean has been diagnosed with terminal lung and breast cancers. Her son has medical problems and can't travel to visit her so we're trying to send her some cheer in his place.
If you'd like to send Jean a card, please remember that she is terminal so no "get well" wishes, please. Jean loves cats and is very religious so either type of card would be awesome.
Here's Jean's address:
Jean Linabury
1628 East Stardust Dr.
Malabar, FL 32950
Thanks much! I'll post the blog candy winner and the new candy in a separate post.
Supplies:
Cardstock - Neenah; October Afternoon Sidewalk
Stamps - Rubbernecker Cats Set
Ink - Versafine, Versacolor
Other- PTI edge die
