Teapot Tuesday - Katie Renz son, Hunter

Dear fellow bloggers,  I am unable to leave comments on any blogs.  I've asked Blogger for help...anyone else having that issue or know a work around for it?

This week's Teapot Tuesday Destination (MMTPT174) is Katie Renz' oldest son, Hunter.  You can read Katie's story here.  We're hoping to bring a bit of happiness for his 12th birthday.   There is a nice post and pictures of Katie and Kevin's twins opening the cards they received for their birthday a few weeks ago there as well.

Hunter LOVES Harry Potter so our assignment is to make cards with 2 circles (like Harry's glasses).  You get extra cookies if you bring a wizard!

I  cut acrylic circles to act as lenses for my "glasses".   I love the glittery swirls on the DP from My Mind's Eye Glitter Book.

Here's the address if you'd like to send Hunter a card:

Hunter Renz
PO Box 5913
Bellingham, WA  98227-5913

Supplies:

Stamps - Happileigh Scrappin digi, PTI Big Birthday Wishes, SU Birthday Best
Ink - Memento, Copics

Rubbernecker Sisterhood Sunday Challenge - SSN1

It's Sunday and that means it's time for another "Sisterhood Sunday" challenge over at  the Rubbernecker Stamps Stampin Sisterhood Blog.

Our "big sister" Jacquie has cooked up a sketch challenge for you to play along with this week and Dave, aka Mr. Rubbernecker, is offering a stamp of choice to one lucky participant with the chance to win a full set of your choice at the end of the month.  Head over to the Stampin' Sisterhood for all the details and to see what the other Sisters have created to inspire you.

Here's this week's sketch:

Here's my take on it.  I opted to place my sentiment on the oval (feel free to make this any shape you'd like) and pearl accents on the top panel in place of the sentiment.  I let my beautiful designer paper from October Afternoon be my vertical panel.

Don't forget....the Rubbernecker Black Friday 45% off sale ends today!

Supplies
Paper - PTI; October Afternoon
Ink - Versafine
Other - stick on pearls, SB oval dies, distressing tool, sewing machine

Thanksgiving Feast Giveway

May Arts is hosting a Thanksgiving Giveaway!

I tend to feel bad for this underappreciated holiday, being stuck in between his very commercialized siblings. It does also happen to be one of my favorites! It's all the pomp & circumstance of Christmas without the pressure of presents! What could be better? :) The feast is my favorite part. Well....that and the decorating of the table, because let's face it what is a feast without proper presentation! Which leads me to the giveaway!

That's DCWV's Tattered Time Stack!

And the ribbon to go with it:

3 Spool of May Arts Ribbon - Your Choice!

What are you waiting for.... drop that fork and head over there!  The Ribbon Lady is choosing a winner on Monday!!

Teapot Tuesday, WOYWW129, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Here's my card for Teapot Tuesday (MMTPT173).  My card was a bit late but I wanted to be sure to send a card to young man named Neil Klippenstein, who lives in Canada.  Neil was on his motorcycle when a speeding truck threw him into the car in front of him and now he's a quadraplegic.  We wanted to cheer him up with cards featuring his beloved motorcycles.  He still loves them even though he can never ride again.

I used a digi image for a super quick card.    The shiny metallic cardstock and the glittered dp from DCWV Glitter Stack fit the challenge requirements for silver.  I've seen motorcycle guys with eagles on their jackets so when I found this one in my stash..on it went.  I hope it brings him some cheer.

Now for WOYWW #129 over at Julia's Stamping Ground.  Yes, it was Wed. when I took this photo, just after midnight when I was crafting this card.  I've been working on DT projects that can't be shared yet.

Funny how fast cards come together when I don't overthink them!
Be sure to head over to Julia's to see what's happening on other workdesks around the world.

Finally, a Blessed and very Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends.  May we never forget the sacrifices that were and are being made so that we may celebrate safely with our families in this season of Thanks and Giving.  If you are traveling, may you go in safety.   I pray for those who have yet to realize how fortunate they are to be able to live freely in a country where young men and women voluntarily risk their lives daily while they themselves choose to break the laws that have made this country great as they attempt to destroy businesses and disrupt lives.

My glue is almost dry!  I'm working on a couple of projects that parents can do with their kids so I thought this card might work.

Foodie Friday - Perfect Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped potatoes were always a favorite in our house.  Making the cheese sauce wasn't my most favorite part so when I found this version I was a happy camper.  The bonus?  They're fast, easy and FABULOUS.  Perfect for Thanksgiving or anytime.

Potatoes are on special most everywhere now so it's a good time to try this recipe.  My friend, Janet, said she needed a potato recipe.  Seems someone in her house, who shall remain nameless, bought 20 lbs. of potatoes yesterday.  LOL

You can find a printable copy of the recipe here and at the link at the top of the page.  I'm making them again today!

I forgot to add that I won the Pie Tasting Contest at church with this pie!!  Woo,Hoo!!

Teapot Tuesday - Katie Renz' Twins Birthday

This week our Teapot Tuesday Destination (MMTPT172) is the home of Will and Nate Renz, Katie's soon to be 6 year old twins.  Our hope and our prayer is to make their birthdays a bit brighter.  The boys love cars and trucks and have asked for a remote controlled car/truck for their birthday.   If you'd like to send them a card, you can find all the information here.

Of course, each boy needs their very own card so I made them just slightly different and added their initials.  The cars are cut out and popped up on dimensionals.

Stamps - Wags n Whiskers Speed Racer digi, PTI sentiment
Ink - Versafine, Memento, Copics

Foodie Friday - It's all about Velvet...ribbon and pie

Sorry I've been AWOL for a couple of days.  My little brother, whom I haven't seen for a few years came for an all too quick visit.  It's so hard being so far away from family but it was so good to see him.

I've got a great gift idea tutorial for you over at the May Arts blog.  Here's a bit of sneak peek.

I've also been doing a bit of cooking and baking.  Here's a quick and easy and oh so velvety Derby Pie that you can whip up in mere minutes.  It's a staple during Kentucky Derby season.  I'm not even a chocolate chip lover but I can't resist this warm rich pie piled high with real whipped cream.

That's what I'm talkin' about!

You can find the printable recipe for Derby Pie here and at the Recipe Link at the top of the page. You can find the pie crust recipe at the Recipe Link as well.  If you haven't tried it, you really should, you know.  It's super easy and you can freeze so that you can have pie any time.

Last but oh so not least......You want to be sure to check out the Blog Hop going on at the Sparkle and Sprinkle Blog.  Some lucky blog hopper is going to win the Grand Prize of a stamp set of your choice and there are 3 more secret prizes hidden along the hop.

May Arts and Operation Write Home

May Arts Ribbon has paired with Operation Write Home once again to make and send cards for our brave and dedicated men and women who are serving our country.  This time we've created Thank you cards.  Be sure to pop over the May Arts blog to see the cards the DT has created.

I also hosted a group of lovely ladies who together made 107 cards (!) for OWH last Friday evening.  You can see the samples on the MA blog as well.  OWH always needs thank you cards so if you have a few extra minutes to stamp some, I know they'd appreciate it.   Remember, no glitter and no bumpy embellishments.

Many thanks to Diane, Stephanie, Durley, Kay, Krystal, MaryBeth, and Janet.

Be sure to scroll down for the Foodie Friday post.
