You're Invited to a Ribbon Cutting and a HUGE, HUGE Giveaway!

Extra, extra!  The Ribbon Lady has been very busy and has completely revamped the May Arts Blog!

 I chose some vintage scissor charms to "cut" these amazingly beautiful May Arts Ribbons.

 A bit of straight sewing is all it took to add texture this already fabulous paper.

Even a humble clothespin  becomes an elegant closure with the addition of May Arts Ribbon!

May Arts Ribbon/Splash of Color & a Giveaway!

May Arts Ribbon and Splash of Color have teamed up to bring you some fun and inspirational splashes of color featuring our eyelet ribbons and the fabulous H20 Twinkling Colors. 

I chose to use the Springtime Shimmering Watercolor H20's and since I couldn't decide which fabulous May Arts Eyelet Ribbons to use...I used them all!

 

Using things I found in my stash, I created this "sweet" little gift set.  I'll show you why it's double sweet in a second.  What you can't see in this picture is the amazing sparkle so I've got some close ups for you. 

 

I like to keep a supply of all kinds of containers in my stash because I just never know when I'll need a little gift and with my May Arts Ribbon handy, inspiration is never a problem!

Here's what I did:

 



Paint a small clay pot first with white acrylic paint, then pink acrylic, then lightly sand it and give it a coat of Chiffon Pink Twinkling H20's.  Hot glue a piece of May Arts eyelet around the top edge. Insert a piece of florist foam. Set aside.

 

Take one yard each May Arts Eyelet Ribbons, thoroughly wet with paint brush/water or spray bottle/water.  Paint with your choice of Springtime Twinkling H20's. Let dry, then stitch with a sewing machine running stitch (you may also do this by hand).  Pull up the stitching so the ribbon gathers.  Layer to form flower shapes and add a bit of hot glue to hold.  Stitch or hot glue buttons to the center.

I have to say that this next step was my favorite.  I followed Marah Johnson's Kosher Salt tutorial to create several tags.  I used all the colors in the Springtime Set and painted away so that I have tags for other projects.  Look at that beautiful sparkle!  I attached strips of May Arts 3/8" Eyelet with Scor-Tape.

 

Now here's the "sweet" secret.  I painted balsa wood sticks with green acrylic paint, then taped organic lollipops to the sticks!  Tape your pretty May Arts Twinkling Eyelet Flowers to lollipops.

 

 

Add May Arts Jumbo Leaves to the sticks using hot glue, then push the sticks into the floral foam.  Add a bit hot glue to make sure they stay put.  Add excelsior to finish.

 

I thought this would make a "sweet" get well, office or teacher gift.

Clean and Simple Monday

Do you ever feel like time is just flying by and you're running as fast as you can to catch it?  That is the case with our son's anniversary.  It crept up before I knew it so I had to make a card...FAST!

I just got some awesome Webster's Pages goodies in their warehouse sale so decided to put some of them to use on this fast card.

Aren't these embroidered shapes from the designer Threads pack sweet?  I just layered 3 of the designs, added some scoring...sorry it doesn't show up better (already mailed it so no re-takes!).

I started with the CAS(e) this Sketch #36 but couldn't make the sentiment panel work so won't be entering it.

May Arts / Lawn Fawn Blog Hop

May Arts and Lawn Fawn are celebrating another week of fun inspiration and giveaways.

Summer's in full swing but it will be back to school time before we know it!

I started thinking ahead with a cute pencil box for those brand new pencils.  Going back to school is much more fun when the munchkins have fun things to take to school with them.

Isn't this fun?  I think I'm addicted to this May Arts Orange Wired Chevron.  I just love the bright color and how easy it is to work with.   I used a cut file from the Cutting Café (it comes in PDF form if you don't have an electronic cutter) for the box. 

After that, it was all fun with pretty papers from Lawn Fawn's Dewey Decimal Collection and Lucky Stars Stamp set.

 

The paper didn't have any stars on it, so I just grabbed my favorite Hero Arts Chalk Ink pads and added some using the star stamps in the Lucky Stars set.

 

 

To create my shooting stars, I stapled three pieces of May Arts Wired Chevron together, then wound them around a pencil.  I die cut some stars with Spellbinders dies then covered them with Stickles.  A bit hot glue holds them securely to the ribbon.

 

 

A strip of the May Arts Wired Chevron atttached with Scor-Tape adds bold color and texture to the box sides and top.

It's Wednesday and that means we get to peek at workdesks around the world to see all the amazing spaces and projects being created.  Just head on over to Julia's Stamping Ground for all the fun.

 I finally got a chance to snap a quick photo of my new workspace.  This is just a tiny bit of it as I can't get the entire room in the photo.  

For those who don't know, my DH graciously gave up his office space and his big desk so that I could move into the larger room.  Now, the computer, and my workspace are all together. The built in shelving has a counterpart on the opposite wall with windows in between.  More on that later. 

I also have a quick way to transform a simple burlap bag using only May Arts Ribbon and Scor-Tape.

Scor-Tape sticks to the burlap like a magnet!

Beautiful, yes?  I added May Arts Lace with Pearl Center over the Crochet lace. More Scor-Tape holds down the beautiful Jumbo Leaves and that awesome Shabby Flower.
