Time to grab your board and jump in the Woody!

Ah.... the 60's and 70's....the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean.  Memories of Surf City, USA (click the link to hear the Beach Boys!)  come to mind .  What repectable surfer went to the beach without his board and his Woody?

I bought a '30 Ford wagon and we call it a woody
                                                       (Surf City, here we come)
You know it's not very cherry, it's an oldie but a goody
                                                        (Surf City, here we come)
Well, it ain't got a back seat or a rear window
But it still gets me where I wanna go

Thanks to Sparkle N Sprinkle, we can head to the beach in our woody anytime we want.  Previewing today are not one but TWO fabulous Surf Sets to get you ready for those warm summer days of sunning and surfing.  These are perfect sets for guy cards!!

First up is my rendition of the Woody with real wood sides, I want cha to know!

Now grab your sunglasses for the next one, 'cause we're going surfin'!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day!  I'm finished with my Valentine's and since today is hubby's colonoscopy prep day (poor baby!) there will be no candy or fancy dinners here.

I do have two cards for you...the first is for Teapot Tuesday.  Our destination this week is Burksville, KY and a young lady named Katy who is dealing with both heart and liver problems.  You can find all of Katy's info and the inspiration photo at the link above.

Our assignment was to camouflage a teapot on our card:

I'm not sure I exactly camouflaged it but we were also to use pink or red and pink it is!

The next card is for the Featured Stamper on SCSI don't often get to play since the challenge is on Sundays and my weeks are full but this week features the gallery of Kathy aka 101Airborne  Kathy is always there with a kind word or comment for everyone and her gallery is full of fun and inspiration.

Here's my case of her cardShe used a sweet image from Mo's Digital and I just happened to have one of "Mary Jumping.

I changed the colors and the sentiment placement as well as the image...so that qualifies for my 3 things to change.

Hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love!

Clean & Simple Monday

It's time for the CAS157 challenge on SCSThis week is a fun sketch by none other than DT member, Nancy Littrell.

Here's my take on Nancy's sketch.  I was just waiting to use this cute dog and sentiment from Rubbernecker and this sketch seemed perfect.

I crack up every time I see it....inside is the cat and the rest of the sentiment which reads....
"cat can't be trusted either"!

Supplies
Ink: Memento; Copics, SU marker
Paper: Neenah; Dear Lizzie; Xpress-it

you make my heart all a flutter....

It's time for the Rubbernecker Sisterhood Sunday challenge (SS10)Here's the inspiration photo:

and here's my take on it.

I love candy hearts!  They're fun, colorful and just plain cute.  I made ths card for my DH for Valentine's Day.  Poor guy gets no candy, no chocolate, no fancy dinner or dessert this year....he's prepping for a colonoscopy on the 15th.  Now that's what I call poor planning!   The little birds are from Rubbernecker Stamps Easter Inchies set.  I just love this sweet little set of images.

                                                    Easter Inchie

I stamped and colored the little birds to match my paper then gave them a coating of Crystal Effects.  I hope this card cheers him up...guess it will match the Gatorade and Jello he'll be eating...hee,hee,hee..He thought it was funny when I went through my prep..I have to keep saying, I will not laugh, I will snicker, I will not crack any bathroom jokes......

Be sure to play along...here's the WINNER DETAILS:

1. One Rubbernecker friend will be chosen to win their choice of ONE SINGLE STAMP.
2.That WINNER will be named our "SUNDAY SISTER" and will be announced on WEDNESDAY.
3.Our "SUNDAY SISTER" will also receive a badge to display on their blogs.
4.At the end of EACH month, all the "SUNDAY SISTERS" will be entered into a RANDOM drawing for the GRAND PRIZE.
5.Our GRAND PRIZE will be a STAMP SET of your choice!

Thanks for stopping by...your kind comments are always appreciated.

Fancy Schmancy from around the house

The holiday of L-O-V-E arrives soon so I thought I might play around for a few minutes in my studio with pieces I had left over from other projects....

a leftover sparkly heart that I had glittered up with Martha's chunky glitter,
a paper doily from my stash,
a few punched butterflies that didn't get used,
a tag that was stamped but not put on a card and...
a cupcake liner.  No, it's not a used one for those of you who think I eat my way through my crafting projects.  :-)

I created this for the Fancy Schmancy Tuesday Trigger and Cool Tools Around the House challenges on Moxie Fab World.

I can't get enough of these Fancy Schmancy treats so I had to do it again!

Stamps - Sparkle N Sprinkle Dream Fairy

Blue Days

If your're looking for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop click the link or scroll down.

It's really not a blue day here...more like a gray, cloudy rainy one ahead of a cold front coming down.  In the 40's tonight...time to light the fire.  I know, you Northerners are are smirking but we Southerners freeze our tushies off at those temperatures.

This is the the Sisterhood Sunday Challenge SS9 on the Rubbernecker Stampin' Sisterhood blog.  Here's our inspiration photo:

and here's my take on it:

I'm not sure if you can tell but the navy layer is embossed with a diamond embossing folder. I stamped the Rubbernecker Toile Panel in Craft White.  I love the sharp contrast between the dark, dark blue and white with that pop of pink.

There's still time for you to play along...a Sunday Sister will be drawn on Saturday evening.  She wins a stamp of her choice, a badge for her blog and is in the running for a complete set at the end of the month....will that "she" be you?

Hubby had to have blood tests this week so not much exciting baking/cooking going on here but I do have a treat for you....Love Bird Cookies...aren't they tweet?

Supplies:
Ink - SU Craft White
Other -  CB embossing folder,Poppy Stamps large window die, Martha Stewart leaf die, Punch Bunch sun dies, foam tape

Thanks for stopping by...I love your visits!

Sparkle N Sprinkle Spring Fling Blog Hop

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Spring Fling Blog hop!  If you hopped here by way of Jessica Griffin, then you are in the right place! Otherwise, you might like starting from the beginning to become eligible for FIVE great prizes on the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog.

One of the most welcome signs of spring for me when we lived up north, was the profusion of blooming flowers.  I couldn't wait for the those first blooms signaling the coming of warmer weather.  Those memories were the inspiration for this card using the Dream Fairy Set and the Dream Fairy Cut Files.

I also used a sentiment from the Bird Swirl Set that I stamped directly onto the designer paper.  I cut some of the flowers from scraps of the designer paper, then used a hand embosser to soften them up and shape the petals.  I got a dimensional look and they didn't cost me a penny!

You can find a complete supply list and instructions on the Sparkle N Sprinkle site.

Your next stop on the hop is Angie Blasingame.  Be sure to comment on each blog to be eligible for the 2 grand prizes and 3 “random” prizes that are attached to 3 different designers blogs!

The sale items for Feb. at 15% discount are: Art Deco, People, Fantasy & Gail Burton images.

Here's a list in case you "get lost"

                                                                      Jessica Griffin
Charlene Driggs (that's me!)

Teapot Tuesday - You Da Man!

It's time for Teapot Tuesday on SCS.  I've missed being able to participate so I'm going to try to stay healthy for awhile!  Our destintation this week is Harrisburg, PA and a fishing loving guy named Tig who's just had rotator cuff surgery which is keeping him inside and away from his favorite sport, fishing.  Apparently, Tig is quite "da man" when it comes to fishing.

The Mother promised us extra cookies if we used "You Da Man" on our cards....I'm all for extra cookies so I computer generated the sentiment and found a funny fishing image online to go with it. If you'd like to send Tig a card...and get extra cookies, you can find the mailing info here.

Here's a better look at the picture...I thought it might make Tig laugh.

    Thanks for stopping by...

Foodie Friday - a confession & a cookie

I LOVE Peanut Butter Cookies...soft in the middle, crunchy around the edges, and oh so peanutty good!  But, that's not my confession..I am probably one of the few in this world who haven't tried this recipe.  It sounds too improbable to work, but work it does AND it's Gluten-free for all those out there who are gluten intolerant.   I made these last week (when I wasn't sniffling and sneezing) because hubby promised them as a prize at work and now, we're hooked.

I used a combo of creamy and crunchy all natural (Krema) peanut butter.  Krema has just the right consistency...not too dry, not too wet.  We can't buy it here so I have to order it (in the bucket!)  If your brand is dry, you many want to try another.
Here's the recipe in printable form so you can have your own...they only take a couple of minutes and just 6 ingredients and I bet you have them in the pantry; so go ahead and indulge...they're worth every calorie.

Sentimental Journey - You've got mail

(click here to hear the song by Doris Day)

I'm taking a Sentimental Journey on the May Arts blog and you're invited to come along!  May Arts is having a Sentimental Journey challenge and we want to see your sentimental creations.  I've got a full tutorial for you on the May Arts blog...and you know the Ribbon Lady is always interested in your comments!  The pictures look a little funky over there due to the width of the new blog but just click to see the project in normal view.

I'm still coughing, sneezing, runny eyes, nose but hope to be back to creating soon.  I can't take the meds to counter the symptoms so just have to suffer through them, but it's getting better.
