Foodie Friday - Sloppy Joe!

This is what we're having for dinner tonight (ditching the chips in favor of potato salad!).  I had a craving those old fashioned Sloppy Joes like my step-mom used to make so tried these and we're hooked!!  They're awesome!!

A Fairy Tale Love Story

"And they lived happily ever after...."

Here's my submission for Stamp it Cards Week Love Card Challenge at Moxie Fab World.


I stamped the background with Stampin Up's Itty Bitty Background and a glue pad then sprinkled on the fairy dust! That gorgeous ribbon is May Arts Champagne silk...love it!

WOYWW163 - My new best friend

It's time to peek at all the workdesks around the world via Julia's Stamping GroundI thought I'd give you a wide view of my room this week (while it's mostly clean!)


The center island has drawers that hold my ribbons.  It;s also where I pack and prepare to ship my Etsy store orders.  More about that later!

The big black cabinet was found at Goodwill a few years ago before I had the other pieces.  My DH made 
shelves for the inside and I painted it black. 

Thought I'd introduce you to my new best friend.

                                                        

Sorry for the grainy photo it's a mirror shot.  I'm hoping this big boy and physical therapy (starts tomorrow) will keep me from knee replacement surgery.

Hubby is off tomorrow so I probably won't get around to see many desks until  later.  Don't forget about the post here.  wink, wink!

LaCoste Inspired

Welll, rats..I missed the deadline for the Runway Inspired Challenge ric #15, (drat that knee!) but I had this card in my head and it needed to come out. 


Here's the challenge photo anyway so you can see if I hit it or not.  :-)



I used a shoe and sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps fun Hat, Shoe and Purses line.  I chose Papertrey's Soft Stone as my base to pick up the grey in the suit and khaki for the shoes.  The shoe design was made with Papertrey's older Faux Ribbon set.  I stamped the shoe, masked the flower, then stamped the stripes and cut it out.  It's popped on the card with foam tape.

I had a bottle of tiny beads that I picked up on clearance a couple of years ago.  Love those clearance buys!  A bit of glue on the flower holds them on nicely.

Clean and Simple Monday - Twine

The SplitcoastStampers CAS Challenge (CAS179) is Twine!  Time to let all that colorful string you've been hoarding out to play.



I've used a sentiment from Rubbernecker Stamps and colorful May Arts twine.

I'm also entering this into the Less is More One Layer challenge Week 76 and using 3 of something on your card.  I used a bit more twine but 3 blingy things and 3 felt flowers.

Thinking of you

It's been a rough few days lately as I've had some unexpected symptoms from a cortisone shot I got on Thursday.  Seems the ortho doc thinks I should have a total knee replacement.  I think NOT so opted for draining the knee, the cyst, and a shot of cortisone followed by PT and a big old ugly brace.  I just wasn't expecting the high bp, vision problems, tingling etc. as I've had cortisone before w/o any issues. 

The doc called this the "rusty years"...so much for all that exercise they say is good for you!!

I have a couple of Rubbernecker cards that I haven't had a chance to get posted.  I've had 3 friends diagnosed with breast cancer in the last week.  That's 3 too many.  I'm sending these cards out with prayers for their complete healing.

May Arts - Summer Kids Crafts

I"m back to a normal posting schedule, hopefully!  Nothing to do now but wait for the Ribbon Lady's decisions on the final DT picks.  Good luck to everyone who is in the final round!!  Lucky Ribbon Lady is at CHA in Chicago this weekend.  Sure hoping they bring it back down south soon.

Ok...I've got a fun way to keep the kids busy for a little while and a way to help beat the heat too.  Head over the May Arts blog for two fun tutorials on making paper fans.  One for the older kids (and mom!) and one for little ones to help with.  Both use things you already have around the house.

The first one is nice enough to give as a gift, I think!  Perfect for these "dog days of summer" or to file away for Mother's Day and birthday gift ideas.   Be sure to tell the Ribbon Lady what you think.




I'll be back with this month's treat for you followers...I didn't forget!  ;-)  It's been an interesting week, doctors talking about knee replacements and such...I think not!!  We'll go the PT and brace way first, right?

May Arts Design Team Round 2

It's here...the final round of the May Arts Design Team Call!!  I have created a multi-part project for my final submission.  Since it's rather long, you can find a complete supply list and tutorial with pictures here for easy download/printing. 

Here we go!  My May Arts Clementine Doll Bed:


I created a doll's bed (or teddy bear bed!) from paint sticks and a clementine (mandarin orange) crate then turned it into a fairy tale with the help of beautiful May Arts Ribbons.  The finished bed is perfect for dolls or teddy bears up to 11 1/2" long.

In the tutorial, you will find links to all the May Arts Ribbons  I used.

First up is the actual bed construction:

Every little doll needs a mattress for comfort,

and a soft pillow for her head,


a rug to play on,

 and a blanket to cuddle up in when nights are chilly.



Even the tiny teddy got a May Arts Elastic Ruffled Ribbon Tutu and bow of gorgeous May Arts Double Faced Satin.

May Arts Satin leaves and Crochet Velvet help with sweet dreams.

WOYWW 163

Well, here it is..another Wednesday time for WOYWW 163 at Julia's Stamping Ground.  I still don't know where Monday and Tuesday went!  Last week's WOYWW photo of my shelves, prompted me to do a thorough re-vamping of my space so here's a look at the cutting area.  I had it like this once before and changed it....bad idea.  This works so much better.



The little jars on the black shelf are from Ikea.  They're filled with button by color.  I wish I could hang that shelf but DH says it's too heavy. ;-(   Left to right are my Scor-Pal, Carl Cutter for thick items and my regular cutter. 

I also have a card that I made before vacation using Rubbernecker Stamps Dapper on Bike (535-04) and  my new favorite Spattered Screen Grunge Background (615).



I stamped the image in Versamark, then heat embossed with black detail EP.  I cut a mask of the image, then stamped the background over the image in using the "stamp off" method so the background would be lighter.  This one goes in my "male" cards file.

Clean and Simple Monday - Fairy Tales

Sorry for the long absence.  Hubby decided to take some vacation days so we ran across the state to visit our "baby boy" and his new wife who just moved south.  Love it that he's only about 3 hours away now and close enough that we'll be able to share more time together.

I played catch up today so just grabbed a few minutes (while it's still Monday!) to play along with the Splitcoast CAS178 Theme Challenge - Fairy Tales

Since I had limited time, I kept it super CAS....a bit of fairy dust sparkle and ribbon...done!

                        
I used the old Stampin Up Background Basics set, a glue pad and two kinds of glitter - Martha Stewart Chunky and glass glitter.  The sentiment is from the Hampton Arts "Fairy Tales" set.  That gorgeous ribbon is a narrower version of my all time favorite, May Arts Champagne silk. 

I think this would make a cute anniversary or wedding card....Love to know what you think!

4th of July Table Decor - May Arts

The 4th of July is right around the corner!  It's the perfect time to celebrate our FREEDOM with friends and family in patriotic style.  May Arts Ribbon has so many beautiful red/white/blue ribbons to make dressing your table easy.

It was dreary and rainy when these photos were taken.  I had to hurry so the paper items wouldn't get droopy but I'm hoping for a beautiful 4th to add American flags to our table.

Rubbernecker Stamps Sisterhood Sunday Challenge SS19

It's time for the monthly Rubbernecker Stampin' Sisterhood challenge!  This month we have an inspiration challenge for you. 
                              
Perfect for the month of July, don't you think?   We're spoiled because we can take a walk on the beach whenever we'd like.  (We don't get there often enough though!)  Here's my take on the challenge:  my blue is deeper IRL but I couldn't get it to show up on the computer without making the whole card too dark. 



I used a cool product called Mud Puddles Bahama Beach on the sand!
