Triple Threat Blog Hop - May Arts, DCWV & Tombow - Day 1

May Arts Ribbon, DCWV, and Tombow have joined together to bring you a triple the fun and inspiration blog hop.

We had a very special birthday in our family so I needed a gift packaging that would disguise the birthday boy's gift.  Square packages are a dead giveaway.  :-)

I knew I wanted fun ribbons so I chose May Arts 5/8" Wired Chevron ribbons. The bright colors in this line make any project pop.

DCWV White Board Stack makes it easy to personalize any gift.  I just cut and glued it with Tombow Mono-Multi to a plain kraft paper gift bag.

A simple plaid  pattern from DCWV alpha zoo Stack was attached with Tombow Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive (so easy to use!).   There are so many fun colors and patterns in this stack.  Perfect for boys.   My all time summer favorite DCWV Citrus Stack Glitter cardstock added happy shimmery color.

May Arts Burlap String is keeping those birthday balloons grounded until the big day and a few matching Pixie Sticks add to the fun.  I used Tombow Hook and Loop tape to keep the bag shut so there wouldn't be any peeking until the big day arrived.

A Blog Hop this big needs big prizes right?

There will be 3 big prize packs.  Each will include:
  • a stack from DCWV
  • a spool of ribbon from May Arts
  • Xtreme Adhesive, Power Tabs, Removable Adhesive and Fastener Tabs from Tombow
To win just comment on each blog & like each of our Facebook pages.

Here's the line up for today.

No More Father's Day Cards!

What you say?  Is she against fathers?  No way!!  Has she lost her mind?  Now that is debatable!

How many Dads do you know who read the card you've labored hours over (or stood in front of the card rack for hours for!) and then into the trash it goes or stuffed into a drawer never again to see the light of day.

Why not give Dad a gift he'll treasure forever?  Start a journal that the kids can begin with scribbles and continue every year for the rest of their lives?

Need some inspiration?  Head to the May Arts blog to see my project and get those creative juices flowing.
There's a complete supply list there too...

May Arts/Operation Write Home Blog Hop

May Arts Ribbon is proud to support our nation’s deployed heroes through Operation Write Home®! This organization has sent over one million cards overseas so our service members can keep in touch with their loved ones while they’re away.  I hope you enjoy all the projects on the May Arts Blog and take some time to check out OWH’s blog and all the others participating,

Here's my submission:  I used OWH Sketch 225 or my layout.

I am so honored to be able to participate in the Operation Write Home Blog Hop. Our military men and women are far from home without the daily love and support of their loved ones. OWH gives them a way to stay in touch. Thanks OWH and May Arts for giving us a way to be encouragers to our brave men and women in the military.

The Ribbon Lady is giving you more incentive to make and send cards to OWH - 2 spools of ribbon of your choice!!  What do you have to do?  Comment HERE

God Bless our men and women in the military, past and present.  Freedom is not free and we so appreciate their sacrifice.

May Arts/UmWow/Avery Elle Blog Week - Day 5 - My turn!

It's Day 5 and the final day of a fabulous week of inspiration by Design Teams from May Arts, Avery Elle and Um Wow.  You'll find the full May Arts Hop List below in case you missed anyone.

I love the way this Clean and Simple card turned out.  I think this would be a great card for Father's Day or a masculine birthday/encouragement/anniversary card.   Love that versatility!

I began by misting these great stars by Um Wow (you get tons of stars and star silhouettes in one package!) with Memories Mists Blue Lagoon.  I sprayed one large star with spray adhesive then sprinkled it with glass glitter.  Let everything dry.

After the stars were dry, I just stamped the compass image from Avery Elle's Knotty set in Imagine Crafts Tsukineko Staz-on Blue Hawaii ink onto Solar white cardstock.  I cut the circles with Spellbinders Circle dies from Stampin' Up Navy, Bazzill metallic cardstock as well.  The compass circle is popped up with  foam squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.

I stamped my sentiment from the Avery Elle Knotty set then tied a figure 8 knot (animated knots) with May Arts SP10 1/8" Burlap Cord.  I used two pieces of the cording for extra width.  I love the beachy natural texture it adds to the card.

The card front is popped up with more Scrapbook Adhesives foam squares so that the cord can be secured on the back.

There are prizes up for grabs, so please be sure to stop by the May Arts Blog for more details. The giveaway is 3 prize packs of:
  • 1 Stamp Set
  • 1 roll of ribbon
  • 1 mask, flair set & layered chipboard set
To enter post a comment on each of the MA/UWS/AE blogs. Here's the complete hop list I promised you so you don't miss out!

May Arts Ragamuffin Gift Bag

The Ribbon Lady challenged the Ribbonistas to make our own versions of a Ragamuffin banner.  I almost didn't play because my style is definitely not Shabby Chic but I'm so glad I changed my mind.  You know I love to make gifts and gift bags so here's my version, a Ragamuffin Gift Bag!

Every piece of  ribbon came from my scrap bin except May Arts Vintage Burlap torn into stripes, and  May Arts 5/8" Sheer Nylon Edge.

I  started with a piece of May Arts Jute Cord measured to go around all four sides of my bag plus 6 inches. Then I just began tying on pieces of scrap ribbon.  Most were between 10-12 inches long.

Once my ribbons were tied onto the jute cord, I covered my bag front and back with beautiful DCWV Designer paper from the Dear Jane stack. Have you seen that stack?  Gorgeous!

I wanted to make sure the top of the bag didn't tear, so I used packing tape to go around the top on both the inside and the outside...two layers.  Then I used my Crop-a-Dile to add eyelets.  After that, I just tied the Ragamuffin trim on with the Sheer Nylon Edge Ribbon.  I tied the free burlap cord ends to the bag handles.

I found two pieces of gorgeous May Arts Silk ribbon in my stash so I used that to wrap the handles securing the ends with Scor-Tape.

I think I love it ...it's going to be hard to give this one away!

Be sure to head to the MA blog for links to the other Ribbonista creations.  You're sure to be inspired and the Ribbon Lady has prizes of course...2 prizes of 1 spool each.  That’s 2 chances to win!  What you have to do: Comment right HERE

Supplies:
Plain gift bag
May Arts Ribbons
DCWV Dear Jane Stack
Scor-Tape
packing tape
Crop-a-dile
eyelets

May Arts Lawn Fawn Blog Hop

It's time for another May Arts/Lawn Fawn Blog Hop!  The May Arts Ribbon and Lawn Fawn Design Teams have joined forces to bring you a week of stamp and ribbon inspiration.

I love gift packaging especially when it's in the Thrifty Gifting category.  I found a entire package of 12 orange and 12 yellow gift bags at a home decor shop for $1 each.  That's $2 for 24 gift bags!

I used a bright orange bag as the starting point for this sweet thank you gift bag and card tag set.  I covered the front of my bag with a colorful pattern from Lawn Fawn's Hello Sunshine 6 x 6 paper pack.  I love the bright happy colors!

Next, I covered a library pocket with 2 more selections from the Hello Sunshine pack.  I cut a piece of cardstock to fit the pocket, then stamped images from Lawn Fawn's Summertime Charm set in fun Tsukineko Neon Pigment inks.

I used May Arts Elastic Plaid Ruffle, and sparkly 4MM String Beads on the pocket.  A hole punched in the top got some May Arts Sheer Ombre Watermelon ribbon that I heated with my heat gun to give some crinkly texture.

A bit of bright orange and pink tissue paper finishes the color theme...brightly!

That's it!  Quick, easy gift packaging for pennies thanks to May Arts Ribbon and Lawn Fawn!  Be sure to scroll down for the rest of the hop list.  You've got the whole week to hop, be inspired and win!

There is an awesome giveaway, of course!  There are 3 sets of prize packs of a roll of ribbon and a stamp set each.  That's 3 winners total.  You have to post on both the May Arts blog and Lawn Fawn sites to win.

Here's the list for the week in case you miss one along the way.
