Foodie Friday peaches and strawberries

Peaches and strawberries...sweet, juicy and oh so beautiful!
First up are the peaches...Yum!

It's a single crust Peach Pie.  All the elements of peach pie but I saved calories but using just a top crust.  Who would miss the botoom crust when they have this in front of them?  Hmmmm?

Topped with a scoop of Breyer's peach ice cream and still warm from the oven.

Here's what it looked like just out of the oven:

Still bubbling.  Do you see that flakey crust?   It's that Perfect Pie Crust I told you about here.

I made 12 pie crusts to put into the freezer in under 30 minutes for pennies compared to the purchased crusts and I promise, once you try it, you'll be hooked.  Each recipe makes 4 pie crusts.  I just wrap thoroughly, place in a zip loc bag and freeze until we get a pie craving.  A great time saver during the holidays too.

understated....

Last night my mojo just decided to take a hike.  I fiddled with this card for two hours before giving up and heading to sleep.   This morning, those same elements came together in a card I've decided I can live with.

I used the Sketch Challenge SC344 from SCS as well as the color challenge CC334 - Basic White, Going Gray and Tempting Turquoise.  I didn't have anything to work with the bright turquoise but I did have a scrap from an old SU pack.  (can't remember the name).  I left off the sentiment because I thought this could work for anything from birthday to wedding/anniversary or sympathy.  Good one for the stash!

Ok...now for the hard part:

1.  I LOVE Oreos so I rarely buy them.  I would eat them all in one sitting.  Ditto for Cookies n Cream ice    cream

2.  I usually stamp late at night.  I feel "guilty" stamping during the day because I love it so much it feels more like play than work.

3.  I mill my own wheat for flour.

4.  I used to make my own clothes...not so much anymore.  Now my sewing is mainly in the craft category.

5.  I HATE ironing, but love my clothes and pillowcases ironed soooooo

6.  I like to weed.  It's a mindless activity that I find relaxing and it's instant gratification.

7.  I've been married 42 years...that's a lifetime!

 

That's it!  Have a lovely Thursday and try to stay cool.  We live in a tropical area so we're used to it but we feel for those of you who aren't.  Drink lots of water!

Teapot Tuesday - Hugs and Hope

I'm just going to let Cindy tell you about our Teapot Tuesday Destination Station this week:

This week's destination is various locations across many many miles. If you would like a destination for your card this week, how about sending it to one of the kids of Hugs and Hope Club for Sick Kids. Hugs and Hope is an internet-based group of caring people who are devoted to providing smiles for kids with serious illnesses, injuries or handicaps.The Club was created by Marsha Jordan in October 2000, as a ministry of encouragement for children battling critical illness. Visitors to the site pray for, encourage, and send these children cheerful, special, handmade cards (a.k.a."happy mail").

I kept my cards simple as I didn't know if they would be going to boys or girls.  Of course, I made one blinged up and I got all boys.  Back to the drawing board unless one of the teapotters wants to switch.

A Dirty Stitch in Time

If you're looking for the CAS Monday card just click here or scroll down.  I wanted to try to get in (just under the wire) the Ribbon Carousel's "A Stitch in Time" challenge to use stitching on your card.  The challenge is hosted by Debbie Carriere!  You probably recognize this fab stamper from the Gallery Idol competition.

Here's my take on the challenge.  I need a gift card holder for a wedding shower so decided something blue was just the ticket.

A bit vintage, a bit modern,  a touch of ribbon. a sweet Petaloo flower and alot of stitching!

Wouldn't you just love to snuggle in that gorgeous throw?  I may just have to get my crochet hooks out.

It's a long tall one...8" x 3.5"  The flowers are cut and layered.

The color on the laptop is totally different than the desktop so wish I had used a plum instead of the melon color.

Boy oh Boy, It's Foodie Friday

My brain must have been on overload after a day of shopping for the master bath renovation, because I just couldn't get a card to come together.  After a good night's sleep, I cleaned it up...alot and went super simple for a card for our grandson who just learned to ride his two wheeler...all by himself.

My coloring needs lots of work, but he won't mind. 

There's a Copic class coming soon and yours truly has signed herself up because coloring scares me!  Thanks to my good blogger friend, Sue, over at Sue's Stampin Stuff for stamping out the image and sentiment for me.

Now for dessert...

Pecan Fingers are my go to when I need a yummy dessert in under 30 minutes...mixing and baking time.

They're chewy and crunchy all at the same time.  A hot cup of tea or coffee and dessert is served.

WOYWW112 - Boy Toys

It's time again for WOYWW (112) over at Julia's Stamping Ground.  She has the most gorgeous view outside her window!

Nothing I can show you in completed stage as all projects have been for DT fun at May Arts Ribbon.  Be sure to stay tuned for some upcoming sneak peeks though. 

Our grandson called to say that he rode his bike ALL BY HIMSELF.   Miss those days with our own boys..sigh.  Sue, over at Sue's Stampin Stuff  shared some of these adorable LOTV Boy oh Boy stamps with me so that I can send him a congratulations card.   We've been swapping stuff for awhile now...I really think she should next door!

DH is off today so it's out to shop for the Master Bath redo....the fun begins in Sept.   Yikes!



Teapot Tuesday - Gingerbread Men

The last week of the month is Tickle a Teapotter week at SCS Teapot Tuesday MMTPT156.  We get to send our cards to a fellow teapotter that is chosen by da Mudder. 

Our assignment this week was to make a Christmas card featuring gingerbread men/women.  I have a hard time thinking Christmas down here anyway, but throw in 90 degree temps and my brain is fried.

I used the sketch from SCS342 as my inspiration.  Sorry for the blur...that's the way it saved. 

                                                  
There's Glimmer Mist misted on the card base and glitter on the snowflakes but it's hard to see in the photo.

Clean and Simple Monday - Tag it!

This week's challenge on SCS Clean and Simple Challenge CAS128.  I decided to go big and use one of these great ivory shipping tags.

I used these beautiful stamps from Rubbernecker Stamps Wild Garden.  The Dandelion Stem Set  is one of my most favorite and versatile stamps.  I used the stamping off technique.  Inking, stamping off on a scrap of paper then, stamping over and over on the tag until the stamp was dry.

Simon Says Stamp and Emboss it!

I was looking for a fun challenge and came across the Simon Says Stamp and Show blog.  The challenge is to  Stamp and Show - Some Embossing.  Doesn't matter if it's wet or dry, just get to it. 

I haven't done a 3 D project in awhile so I grabbed a small composition book from the stash, my
Tim Holtz  The Journey Stamps and some awesome Graphics 45 paper from the Transatlantique Collection.  I think this would make a great little travel gift for logging memories and miles.

I heat embossed the car and the tickets then cut them out and did some "fingerinking" to make the bg color more like the DP.  I then stamped the sentiment directly onto the cover piece and heat embossed it.  I decided to add a tea stained tag as a bookmark so I stamped some of them images in clear around the sentiment, sprinkled on Clear EP then applied the heat.  After it dried, I did more finger inking on the clear images.  I even did some heat embossing on the edges of the notebook...first time I've tried that but it won't be the last...it looks cool!  I just sponged Versamark around the edges, then added black EP and heat...voila!

Foodie Friday & Impression Obsession & CPS

Sorry for no post yesterday...DH had a day off and for the forseeable future, that means shopping for the master bathroom renovation.  We're trying to keep the cabinets to save $$ so matching the countertop to them is proving to be a chore. I'll take some before and after pictures soon.

In the meantime, here's a little treat to cool you off this summer...DH said that after he tasted it, it was all he could think about all day.  ;-)  It IS really good!

Strawberry Smoothie Ice Cream Pie...oh, my!!  The original recipe came from SL.  You can find the recipe on a printable Google Doc at the Recipe link above.

That's the main course...now for dessert!

This is for the challenge at the Impression Obsession blog to make a card for any occassion using only IO stamaps.  That part was easy because I love their stamps!  I love that you can have your rubber stamps mounted...or not, and that they also have acrylic stamps.

I used the sketch from Card Positioning Systems CPS227.

I did a bit of doodling around the edges, the center panel is popped on foam dots and for a bit of glimmer, I spritzed some Pearl Glimmer Mist into the air then waved my card through it a few times.

Our youngest son just received a promotion at work.  Since I'm not close enough to give him a hug, a card will have to do.  I used only blue and white as those are the colors of his company.

I used the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches #103.

If it's Wednesday, then it's also time for WOYWW#111 over at Julia's Stamping Ground.  The beginnings of this card and the remnants of a DT project are all over the desk along with various other things that need a home...no use apologizing...it's a happy mess!

I finally got a Copic Airbrush system and compressor but the compressor arrived with no instructions!  Anyone know where to find a manual?
