WOYWW193 - a mess in progress

Guess what!?  Julia posted early!!  Woo,Hoo...that means if I type real fast, I'll be double digits instead of triple.  Will wonders never cease?

I grabbed my camera real quick and snapped a shot of a DT project in process...can't let you see too close yet but I'm hoping it will be a good one...Tune in next week to find out.

Well, there's the phone!  I'll be looking for it tomorrow.

I got braces on my teeth today...yep, over 60 and braces.  I figure my granddaughter and I will be in them at the same time so we can console one another.  I was tempted to ask for a colored ones but chickened out and got the clear ones instead.  Eating is a pain and downright ugly when salad gets stuck in there.  LOL

Be sure to head over to the Stamping Ground to see what's on the crafty desks around the globe.  Be sure to wave hi to Julia while you're there.

Teapot Tuesday Card Patterns Sketch - It's a hummer

This week's Teapot Tuesday challenge is a personal one.  Our destination is my neighbor and my friend, Barbara Bryan.  Barbara is also the mother of my dear friend, Patty.  Barbara is a vibrant, beautiful, southern Lady.  She is all at once, strong and gentle, elegant and down to earth and next month she will be 85 years old.

Barbara had a very big blockage in her heart so she went in for open heart surgery which in itself is a big deal.  Her lung was knicked or punctured while the breathing tube was being inserted which has caused some very big complications.  During surgery to clear her airway from that, she had a stroke.  Right now, her R leg is paralyzed but she can move her arms.

Barbara is orginally from N. Carolina and loves hummingbirds and dogwoods and she LOVES cards so our challenge is to send Barbara some get well wishes featuring the things she loves.  I used my beautiful hummer from Sparkle N Sprinkle set 451 Hummingbirds and Flowers

I used Card Patterns Sketch 160  as my starting point. I layered both the flower and the hummingbird and stamped the remaining part of the sentiment on the interior of the card.

Supplies:
Ink - Memento; Copic Markers; Versafine Sepia
Paper - Neenah; Basic Grey Euphoria, Bazzill shimmer
Other - Spellbinders Oval and Lacey Oval dies; metallic paint; SparkleNSprinkle Glitter - Blue Jewel G1113, Pretty Princess G1109, Bubblegum G1088; sewing machine, distressing tool; pearl trim; foam tape; corner rounder;

Clean and Simple Monday - Scallops

This week's SCS Clean and Simple Challenge is Scallops.  (CAS165)  I had my  favorite DCWV Citrus Stack out for another project...again! (I really think I'm going to have to buy another one!), so I decided to just go with it. I think the Citrus Stacks are the most fun, summery papers/cardstocks packs out there.

I can't decide whether or not cut that bit of white off the bottom and I'm thinking of adding a small banner sentiment later when I have an occasion to send it....what do you think?

Supplies:
Paper - Neenah; DCWV Citrus Stack
Other - Martha Stewart punch

May Arts - Ring Bearer Pillow

Ah...Spring..flowers are blooming, birds are singing, the sky is blue and love is in the air.  We have a couple of family weddings on the horizon so my thoughts have been on all things wedding inspired.   I love to see the little flower girls and ring bearers marching down the aisle bearing their precious gifts for the bride and groom.

Today on the May Arts blog, I've got a tutorial for you to make this elegant pillow for the ring bearer to carry down the aisle.    Pop over and tell me what you think.

Here comes the bride!

Old Guys Rule

It's time for the monthly sketch challenge SSNSC06 over at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog

I decided to flip the sketch to landscape and took the liberty enlarging the circle to make it my focal point...I mean, like, this old guy is a big dude and that small circle just wouldn't hold him.  ;-)

I used my favorite DCWV Citrus Stack, a bit of wavy stitching and that bendy ruler I showed you in my WOYWW post was used to create the wavy border panel.  I even gave him a bit of sun burn.  LOL

It was really warm here today...pushing 90 so a cool dip in the pool was my inspiration. (Ours is too cool for me still...brrrr)

For those of you who made a guess as to which one was me in the WOYWW post yesterday....well, you were all wrong.  I'm the one on the R with the gigantic forehead.  Thanks, Dad...and yes, I still have it and keep it well covered up with bangs.

Thanks for stopping by...I appreciate your comments.

Supply List
Paper - DCWV Citrus Cardstack; Neenah; Xpress It
Ink - Memento Black; Copics
Other - SNS glitter Lemonade G1091S, Waterfall G1071, Rosy Red G1036; Quickie Glue pen; Spellbinders Circle, Scalloped Circle dies; sewing machine; bendable ruler

WOYWW148 -bits of a project

It's WOYWW148 over at Julia's Stamping Ground.   I'm back to my normal place among the triple digits.  I should have stayed up as I tossed and turned for about 3 hours until sleep arrived.

There's a bit of action this week.  I've got some glittery strips drying and the beginnings of a watery project underway.  Intrigued?  See that red wavy thingy...it's a sewing ruler that can get all bendy and it's great for creating hills, valleys and waves.  A bit pricey unless you use a coupon but it's worth getting a coupon from JoAnn's and picking one up.  The b/w photo is a  copy of a vintage one of my sister and I.  Can you guess which one is me?

Be sure to peek in on the crafty desks all over the world.  You never know what treasures you might find in  process.

Twofer Tuesday - Teapot Tuesday & Rubbernecker Tuesday Team Blog

Goodness, I didn't have time to do a CAS card yesterday because I have a big order to get out PDQ..I do have a Teapot Tuesday card for you though.  This week is a color challenge - pink, silver and black.  Our cards are going to Alix in Toronto.  She's a young and beautiful attorney whose husband sent her a text to tell her he was leaving...now, I've heard of cowards but that takes the cake.

At any rate, we were to bring elegant cards and a dog in honor of Alix's dog, Dexter.  I used the sketch from Card Patterns CPS159.  I happened to have a silver dog charm in my stash so he's hiding in the ribbon.

Stamps - $1 bin Michael's
Ink- Versamark
Paper - Neenah, Making Memories, PTI, silver from stash
Other - Sparkle N Sprinkle Silver detail EP; May Arts Silk Ribbon, dog charm, paper rose, Spellbinders lacey oval, oval dies

WOYWW 147 - Early by golly!

I've must have been very good because I was going through my Google Reader and there, was WOYWW147, early!  Julia's out and about...while the cat's away and all that!  Normally, I'm number 100+++ because of the time difference.  I ran and took a quick shot of the desk and here ya go:

See that organizer in the corner...brand new and I LOVE IT.  I was able to clear a drawer of big clunky schtuff.  Don't know why I didn't do it sooner.  I can actually find things now.

I have a treat for you too...not a stamping one, a heart one.  A friend passed this on and I don't usually do this but it will make your day, I promise.  To my friends across the pond.  Bravo!

Teapot Tuesday - MMTPT191

Sorry I missed Clean and Simple Monday...I darn near cut the tip of my pinky off with a knife so crafting was out of the question today...I had this card for Teapot Tuesday done already thank goodness.  Typing with a bandage on is a bit awkward so this will be a short one.

This week we "Tickle a Teapotter"  That means our card gets sent to a secret sister that only Cindy knows. Once all the cards are submitted, she will send us the name of the person to send our card to.  Our assignment was to go to France and we get extra cookies if we bring a chuckle to the tea party.

I found this digi on Etsy.  Perfectly French and perfectly humorous...hope I get cookies!

Supplies:
Image - Antique Graphique
Paper - Graphic 45 Transatlantique; PTI
Ink - Copics; Versafine Sepia
Other - twine, buttons, antique music sheet, corner rounder

We're getting a head start on the month of May with a Mother's Day Blog Hop.   Each of the Rubbernecker designers has created a card we hope will inspire you.

I chose a soft palette to complement Rubbernecker's Single Leaf Rose.  I also used the Butterfly Inchies Set to stamp directly onto my designer paper, stamping and stamping off to get lighter each time.  Just in case you thought you were seeing double, you can relax.  I stamped the sentiment twice.  Once in PTI Smokey Shadow, then just ever so slightly to the right, I stamped again in Versafine Black.

Don't Throw it Away!

If you're looking for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog Hop...just scroll down to the next post!  Hurry, though...today's the last day to comment.

Have you seen the newest release from PaperCrafts Magazine?  It's called "Practical Solutions for Paper Crafters"  and I'm so on it!  I'm a hoarder from waaaaay back.  I can't stand to throw anything away that I think I might be able to use someday.

Is this cover not beautious as well?

Cath is hosting a series of challenges based on this issue.  This one fits me perfectly...It's the "Don't Throw It Away" Challenge.   Anyone who's peeked in on my workdesk on What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday, has seen this strip of ribbon hanging in various positions.  I've moved it  from shelf to shelf but...

I just couldn't bear to throw it away...I mean it had adhesive on it and everything.  I also had a scrap of crocheted lace and a piece of butcher's cord...butcher's cord, you ask?  Yep, that stuff you tie the turkey's legs together with at Thanksgiving time.

I pulled them together with some scraps of Graphic 45 paper, a bit forlorn paper butterfly that got punched a long time ago and here's the result.

I think I like it...gosh...I'm gonna miss seeing that ribbon scrap though!

Supplies
3 x 5 notebook
Paper - Graphic 45
Other - ribbon scrap, butcher cord scrap, lace scrap, Martha Stewart butterfly, stick on pearls, gcd chipboard sticker (clearance item)
